Abishek Porel arrested over rape case
Bengal cricketer and Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel has, according to reports, been arrested in connection with a rape case filed by a medical student. As per the complaint, the woman has alleged that Porel entered into a physical relationship with her after assuring her that he would marry her.
Porel was taken into police custody on Tuesday and questioned following the complaint registered at Mogra Police Station in Hooghly. Following the questioning, police arrested him. After his arrest, Porel underwent a medical examination before being taken to court. He was later produced before the Chinsurah Court. A case, according to reports, has been registered against Abishek Porel under multiple sections of the BNS and IT Act. In the IPL, Abishek Porel has represented Delhi Capitals, having played 35 matches and amassed 769 runs. He made his debut for DC back in 2023.
