Rishabh Pant becomes India’s leading run-scorer in WTC history, overtakes Shubman Gill

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has claimed a spectacular record in his Test career, becoming India’s highest run-scorer in the World Test Championship. Pant overtook captain Shubman Gill during the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium.
Pant got to the record after an impressive second-innings performance in Galle, scoring 66 from 69 deliveries. The knock also helped Pant move ahead of Gill in the WTC run-scoring charts for India. He had already made a useful contribution in the first innings, with 39 runs from 62 balls. Gill entered the Test with 2,867 runs from 41 WTC matches, but his performance in Galle remained modest.
He managed 16 in the first innings and 8 in the second. Pant, meanwhile, has now accumulated 2,885 runs in 73 innings across 41 WTC matches. Pant now tops a list that has Gill on second, Rohit Sharma on third with 2,716 runs, followed by Ravindra Jadeja with 2,632 and Virat Kohli with 2,617.
