Abhishek Sharma's blazing assault helps him break Gayle’s record

Abhishek Sharma unleashed a blistering assault on Pakistan bowlers during the Asian Games 2026 gold medal clash at Karogi Sports Park on Saturday. The Indian opener took little time to settle, launching an aggressive beating that put Pakistan on the ropes.
His assault began in the second over when he hit Saad Masood's delivery for his first six of the evening. He continued to strike, repeatedly sending the ball over the ropes to give India a roaring start. After his fourth six, Abhishek went past West Indies great Chris Gayle, who had reached 400 T20 sixes after facing 3,557 balls. His seven sixes also took his tally of sixes against Pakistan to 14 in the format, taking him past Virat Kohli's 11. Abhishek’s innings came to an end when he was on 61 off 28, but he powered India to a formidable total of 211/6 in 20 overs.
