The Ajit Agarkar era at the helm of India’s men’s national selection committee has come to an end, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) inviting applications for one vacancy on the senior men’s selection panel. Agarkar took charge as chairman of selectors in 2023 and served there for three years.

Moreover, he did not seek an extension, with his term ending on October 4. During his tenure, India enjoyed fruitful results across all formats as the team reached the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

After that, India had greater success, lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup, followed by the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2026 T20 World Cup.

As of now, former India batter Pragyan Ojha has been given the responsibility of leading the selection process on an interim basis. He also presided over the meeting to pick India’s squad for the New Zealand tour.
