SA20 2027 mini-auction: Rising South Africa star Jason Rowles snapped up by Joburg Super Kings, Shimron Hetmyer join MI Cape Town

Joburg Super Kings made headlines at the SA20 2027 mini-auction on Wednesday, acquiring the services of veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard at R1.5 million. Among the headline moves was also the return of Faf du Plessis. Notably, the Super Kings had released du Plessis ahead of the auction but managed to secure him for R 2.7 million.
One of the most eye-catching decisions by the franchise came when they won a tense bidding battle for South African teenager Jason Rowles. They faced huge competition from MI Cape Town, who were also interested in securing his services, but Super Kings outlasted them and got their player.
Meanwhile, MI Cape Town bought Shimron Hetmyer to strengthen their squad. He was the first player to go under the hammer and was purchased for R 1.5 million, the same amount paid for Pollard. MI Cape Town also retained the services of New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult for R 1.5 million.
