Legendary South African batter AB de Villiers turned back the clock with a breathtaking century in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2026, powering South Africa Champions to a stunning victory over Australia Champions. Chasing a massive target of 210 runs, South Africa Champions made the task look effortless, reaching the target in just 15.2 overs. At the heart of the remarkable chase was de Villiers, who smashed an unbeaten 111 off just 40 balls, including a century completed in only 37 deliveries. Walking in at No. 3, the 42-year-old showcased the explosive batting that made him one of cricket's most feared players. He hammered six fours and 11 towering sixes, attacking the Australian bowlers all around the ground. His innings ensured that Australia's formidable total of 209/5 in 20 overs was chased down with ease.

While de Villiers dominated the spotlight, opener Richard Levi played a crucial supporting role with a blistering 62 off just 29 balls. The partnership put South Africa Champions firmly in control of the chase, leaving experienced batters Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy with little work to do. This is not the first time de Villiers has set the World Championship of Legends alight. During the 2025 edition, he finished as the tournament's leading run-scorer, amassing 429 runs in six matches at an astonishing strike rate of 220. He also registered three centuries and a half-century, establishing himself as one of the tournament's standout performers.
