Jos Buttler undergoes successful hamstring surgery, faces race to regain fitness

England star Jos Buttler has undergone successful surgery on his left hamstring after suffering an injury during the ODI series against Sri Lanka last month. The experienced batter has now begun his recovery and is determined to return to full fitness. Buttler shared the news on Instagram on Monday, posting a picture of himself in a hospital bed with his left leg secured in a brace. He also expressed his determination to recover, saying he felt more motivated than ever.

The injury occurred during the second ODI against Sri Lanka at Headingley on September 24. Buttler initially retired hurt but returned to the crease and scored an impressive 69 runs off just 49 balls, including five sixes. The injury is a major setback for Buttler, who had been in excellent form before the incident. After a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year, where he scored just 87 runs, he made a strong comeback by scoring 466 runs across his next nine white-ball internationals. Buttler has been ruled out of England's upcoming tri-series in Pakistan and is also likely to miss the white-ball tour of Australia in November. His absence will be a concern for England as they prepare for their upcoming international assignments. Meanwhile, Buttler and fellow England white-ball veteran Adil Rashid have received one year contract extensions from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). However, Buttler's current contract is set to expire before the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa. England will hope Buttler makes a full recovery and returns to action as soon as possible. For now, the experienced batter's main focus will be on rehabilitation and regaining full fitness before making his comeback to international cricket.
