Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the first two unofficial Tests of India A's tour of New Zealand, which is scheduled to be held later this month, due to a side strain. In Pant’s absence, the BCCI has included Jharkhand wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra as a replacement.

Pant, whose availability was already subject to fitness, picked up the injury during the recent Irani Cup in which he captained Rest of India. As of now, Pant remains under the supervision of BCCI’s medical team and is recovering well. Even the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) last week said that Pant had made himself unavailable for the Ranji Trophy that got underway on October 11.

India A squad for first two unofficial Tests vs New Zealand A: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, R Smaran, Dhruv Jurel (c&wk), Washington Sundar, Auqib Nabi, Akash Deep, Anshul Kamboj, Manav Suthar, Mukesh Choudhary, Sai Sudharsan, Yash Rathod, Mukesh Kumar, Kumar Kushagra (wk)
