Marco Jansen, Abhishek Sharma rise to top in latest ICC rankings

South Africa’s Marco Jansen and India’s Abhishek Sharma have risen to the top of the latest ICC rankings, earning the No. 1 spots in Test bowling and all-rounder rankings and men’s T20I batting rankings, respectively. Jansen got to the top following a series of blazing performances against Australia in the ongoing Test assignment.
Abhishek, on the other hand, returned to the top on the back of a sensational hundred against New Zealand. Jansen, who dethroned Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja from the top, has been a key player for Australia in the ongoing series against Australia, having already claimed 10 wickets across the first two games. He has also been equally impactful with the bat. Jadeja held his place at the top for more than four years.
The Indian opener now occupies the top position with 897 rating points, ahead of Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan (883) and Kishan (866). There has also been a change in Women’s rankings, with South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt surpassing Smriti Mandhana to become the No.1 ODI batter. Mandhana has slipped to second in the ODI rankings and sits fourth in the T20I batting rankings, remaining a place behind batter Shefali Verma.
