Mumbai Indians part ways with Malinga, Mhambrey and Hopkinson

Mumbai Indians have confirmed that Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson will not be part of the Mumbai Indians men's coaching staff. Malinga and Mhambrey served as the team's bowling coaches while Hopkinson was the fielding coach. The latest development comes days after Kieron Pollard was appointed the team’s head coach, succeeding Mahela Jayawardene in the role.
“Mumbai Indians extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lasith, Paras and Carl for their contributions to the team and the wider MI family. Their commitment, the relationships they have built and the memories they have helped create will always be part of our journey. We wish each of them the very best in their future endeavours,” Mumbai Indians said in a statement.
Malinga has shared a long association with the franchise, playing a key role in the team's four IPL title-winning campaigns and later going to the team as a coach. Mhambrey, who joined the franchise in 2024, served for two seasons, having already also had a long stint with the franchise from 2010 to 2017. Hopkinson, on the other hand, joined the franchise ahead of the 2025 season, replacing James Pamment.
