Netherlands batter Max O'Dowd has received an official reprimand and one demerit point for showing dissent at an umpire's decision during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 match against Oman in Dubai on Tuesday. The incident occurred in the 12th over of the Netherlands' innings when O'Dowd was given out leg-before wicket (LBW). Following the decision, the batter indicated that he had edged the delivery by showing his bat to the umpire, an action deemed a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.

O'Dowd was found guilty of violating Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to showing dissent at an umpire's decision during an international match. The offence falls under Level 1, and the demerit point is his first disciplinary sanction in a 24-month period. He admitted the offence and accepted the penalty proposed by match referee Phil Whitticase, meaning no formal hearing was required. The charge was brought by on-field umpires Akbar Ali and Shiju Sam, along with reserve umpire Virender Sharma.

Under ICC regulations, Level 1 offences can result in an official reprimand or a fine of up to 50 per cent of a player's match fee, along with one or two demerit points. Despite the disciplinary incident, the Netherlands secured a convincing 106-run victory over Oman at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. The two sides will meet again in Match 144 of the tournament on November 2, with the Netherlands aiming to continue their winning momentum and Oman looking to bounce back.
