India have added fast bowler Auqib Nabi to the squad for the opening three matches of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. Nabi was earlier named in the group for the fourth and fifth ODIs but has now been brought into the squad for the entire five-match series.

The decision to bring Nabi comes following the withdrawal of Prasidh Krishna, who has been ruled out of the series as he continues his recovery from a left hamstring injury. Nabi has only represented India in one ODI when he made his debut during the second ODI against the West Indies in September. In that match, he bowled ten overs and conceded 84 runs without picking up a wicket.

As of now, Nabi is in New Zealand as part of India's A red-ball squad. He played the opening unofficial Test against New Zealand A, in which he claimed six wickets. Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna is expected to link up with the India A squad for the third unofficial Test against New Zealand A.

India's updated squad for the first three ODIs vs New Zealand: Shubman Gill (c), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vc), KL Rahul (wk), Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan (wk), Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy (only for the first ODI), Auqib Nabi

India's ODI squad for fourth and fifth ODIs vs New Zealand: Shreyas Iyer (c), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan (wk&vc), Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Auqib Nabi, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Kumar Kushagra (wk), Mohammed Siraj, Yash Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav
