Hardik Pandya not part of Baroda's squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya will not feature in Baroda's squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after the experienced all-rounder failed to make the cut in the 15-member squad. It is quite frustrating for Hardik Pandya as well as team India because he has been away from competitive cricket since May 24, when he last played for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026.

Since then, Pandya has spent much of his time undergoing assessment and physical conditioning at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Just recently (in October), Pandya had been included in India A squad for the one-day series against Australia A; however, his return was disrupted after he reportedly suffered another injury.

Notably, his last international appearance came during the T20 World Cup final against New Zealand earlier this year. Meanwhile, in Hardik’s absence, Baroda have decided to hand the captaincy to Krunal Pandya for India's premier domestic T20 competition.
