ENG vs NZ 3rd ODI: England trounce New Zealand to take 2-1 lead

Riding high on Ben Stokes’ 182-run knock, England beat New Zealand by (181) runs in the third ODI of the four-match series on Wednesday at the Oval to take 2-1 lead in the series. In spite of Trent Boult’s fifer, England batters successfully dominated New Zealand to set the huge total for the visitor to chase. Put into bat, England suffered early loss with the wickets of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root but Ben Stokes and Dawid Malan’s partnership rescued England from the tumbling situation. Dawid Malan lost his wicket after scoring (96) but Ben Stokes continued with his batting onslaught to take the host to the total of (368).
In their chase of a big total, New Zealand showed utter failure with all of their top-order batters losing their wickets at regular intervals. England bowlers came out with top-class bowling to put New Zealand under tremendous pressure from which they could not come out till the end of the game. There was some hope for New Zealand when Glenn Phillips played the knock of (72) runs but it could not be enough for them as Black Caps were bowled out for (187) in (39) overs.
