Having already thrown few surprises in the ongoing ODI World Cup, Afghanistan are gearing up to take on Australia in their eight match of the World Cup on Tuesday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Afghanistan have been abundantly challenging in their performance since the start of the tournament to come out of the view of being a weak team. Afghanistan’s match against Australia will be the most vital clash for them to keep themselves alive in the race for semi-final. With their early victories in the tournament, Afghanistan don’t have to worry too much about the calculations to get into the semi-final because they have to win their remaining two matches to barge into the semi-final. Afghanistan will enter this match on the back of two consecutive victories that they brought against Sri Lanka and Netherlands, but Afghanistan are no stranger to Australia’s intensity, having already seen them bounce back strongly in the ongoing World Cup.

Afghanistan’s top-order batters have been positive in their intent as they have continued to lead the batting charge for Afghanistan. Players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi and Ibrahim Zadran have been carrying their rhythm with promising performances. Afghanistan will be taking the field with same intensity to challenge Australia. Australia, meanwhile, have been on the five-match winning streak after registering a devastating start to their World Cup campaign. Their comeback has been incredibly surprising with five consecutive wins. All Australia need is to win one match to qualify for the semi-final of the World Cup as they will eye the victory against Afghanistan to make their way into the semi-final. Australia, in their last match against England, didn’t have the presence of Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh but for this match they are expected to make themselves available. Overall, Australia have been remarkable in their performance.
