In an outstanding display of cricket prowess, India routed England in the fifth Test match, securing a resounding win by an innings and 64 runs on Saturday in Dharamshala. With this triumph, India sealed the five-match series with a commanding lead of 4-1, denying England to finish their tour on a high note.

India brought an end to the proceedings inside three days to secure a terrific victory. Ravichandran Ashwin, playing his 100th Test match, struck with five wickets to bring an end to England’s innings. Joe Root played a remarkable innings of 84, which eventually came to end with Kuldeep Yadav striking to remove him. England were bundled out for 195 as they are set to return home with a 4-1 series defeat. England couldn’t put up a reasonable fight to challenge India in their backyard.

England struggled to establish partnerships and build momentum. The relentless pressure applied by the Indian bowlers left the English batting lineup reeling, as wickets fell at regular intervals. India, meanwhile, have ended the series in an emphatic fashion.

Earlier, bowling legend James Anderson took his 700th Test wicket to reach an exceptional landmark. The defeat will serve as a massive setback to the leadership of captain Ben Stokes and coach Brandon McCullum. Indian veteran R Ashwin became the second Indian after Anil Kumble to record a five-wicket haul in his 100th Test match.
