News

Already out of contention, Gujarat Giants will face Delhi Capitals in the 20th and final league stage match of the ongoing Women’s Premier League on Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Gujarat Giants, sitting at the bottom in the points table, failed to qualify for the playoffs, having begun their campaign with four consecutive defeats.

Gujarat Giants, in total, have lost five games from their seven games, winning only two games. Their two victories only came against Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz. Despite suffering defeats and not making to the playoffs, Gujarat Giants would eye a significant finish to their campaign. They progressed midway through the tournament, recording two wins out of their last three games, but it didn’t make any impact on their playoffs chances.

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, are at the top in the points table with five wins and two defeats from their seven games. They are already sitting into the playoffs alongside Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Delhi Capitals will head into this match on the back of their four victories on the bounce. Their recent victory came against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last game. This match will help Delhi Capitals enhance their skills and performance leading up to the final. Delhi Capitals look set to advance to the final, considering their position in the points table and Mumbai Indian’s latest defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore, costing them in their net run rate.
