Delhi Capitals Women sealed their place in the final of the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) by defeating formidable Gujarat Giants in the final league stage match on Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi Capitals’ incredible show pf determination coupled with dominant performance fizzled out Gujarat Giants, making direct entry into the final. Meanwhile, they also ended their stage league campaign on a thrilling note.

Deciding to bat, Gujarat Giants were limited to 126/9 in (20) overs with Laura Wolvaardt and Beth Mooney going back for (7) and (0) respectively. The stellar bowling efforts from DC’s Marizanne Kapp, Shikha Pandey and Minnu Mani dismantled Giants. Bharati Fulmali and Kathryn Emma Bryce gave Giants impetus with their scores of (42) and (28*) respectively.

Chasing the target, Delhi Capitals smoothly led their chase after Shafali Verma, charged up from the outset, scored (71) off (37) to power the team into the final. In the middle-order, Jemimah Rodrigue remained unbeaten on (38) with her pivotal contribution, helping the team go past the target in only (13.1) overs.

This remained a forgetful campaign for Gujarat Giants who finished at the bottom in the points table with two victories from their eight games. They put up commendable fights, but their prospects remained quite low.
