In the most awaited face-off of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, fierce rivals India Women and Pakistan Women will be clashing with each other on Friday (19th July) at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla. As of now, India Women have played 17 T20Is in last year and they have been successful in winning 10 games, suffering defeats in five. Two games did not produce any result. Team India will enter the tournament as defending champions after lifting the title in 2022. They outplayed Sri Lanka Women in the final to race to an eight-wicket victory.
In contrast, Pakistan Women, in the same period, have played 19 games but their winning margin has been very low, having only seven wins, while facing defeats in 12 matches. The rivalry between these two teams is well-known, and their encounter is expected to set the tone for the rest of the competition.
India, with their strong track record and depth in both batting and bowling, will be looking to assert their dominance early on. Players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma bring experience and skill, making India toughest opponent.
On the other hand, Pakistan Women will be determined to challenge India and make a strong start. Key players such as Sidra Ameen, Fatima Sana and Nida Dar will be crucial in Pakistan's strategy to outplay their opponent.
In a big boost for India, they are the most successful team in the history of the tournament, having lifted the title on eight occasions out of nine editions. India recently played a three-match T20I series at home against South Africa which was drawn 1-1, with South Africa winning the first game and India third. Their second match had been abandoned due to rain.
