PAK vs ENG 1st Test day 5: Ruthless England down Pakistan by an innings and 47 runs

In a stunning display of monstrous batting and bowling prowess, England defeated Pakistan by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test of their three-match series, on Saturday in Multan. This commanding victory for England was made possible by an extraordinary performance from the England duo of Joe Root and young Harry Brook.
The record-breaking knocks from Root and Brook were the cornerstone of England’s supreme win. England’s batting was well underpinned by remarkable bowling attack from England bowlers. Root, who is an England veteran, scored an impressive 262 runs, while Harry Brook outdid him with a staggering 317-run innings. Their partnership propelled England to a monumental total of 823/7d runs declared, far surpassing Pakistan's first innings score of 556.
Entering their second innings, Pakistan faced a daunting task immediately as their top-order batters, who were expected to lead the charge, lost their wickets one after other, making it impossible for Pakistan to remain alive in the game. Unfortunately for them, the situation worsened dramatically on Day 5, as they lost wickets in quick succession during the first session, leading to their historic defeat.
This sudden collapse underscored the pressure Pakistan are going through. Moreover, the form of their prodigious batter Babar Azam has been the bigger cause of concern. Their inability to build partnerships or stabilise their innings was on full display. With this heavy defeat, Pakistan become the first team in the history of Test cricket to score more than 500 in their first innings and suffer defeat by an innings.
