In a big blow to New Zealand ahead of the second ODI against Pakistan, masterclass batter Mark Chapman will not be available for the second match due to a hamstring injury. Chapman was the best performer for New Zealand in the first match, racking up 132 to power New Zealand to 344.

Later, New Zealand bowlers bowled Pakistan out for 271 in 44.1 overs to claim a 73-run win. Chapman will now head back to Auckland to begin his rehabilitation. Meanwhile, Tim Seifert has been named as his replacement.

“It’s obviously disappointing news for Mark, after a really special innings in the opening ODI in Napier,” NZ head coach Gary Stead said in a release.

“We’re thankful that the hamstring injury is only minor so we’re hopeful that Mark will be able to complete his rehabilitation and be available for the final match of the summer in the Mount," he said.

Tim Seifert had a fruitful T20I series against Pakistan, smashing 249 runs in five matches at an average of 62 including an unbeaten 97 off 32 in the last game. He was the leading run-scorer for New Zealand.
