England opener Zak Crawley has reacted to Indian skipper Shubman Gill’s claim that England had acted against the “spirit of the game” by delaying proceedings during the third Test at Lord’s. Gill, ahead of the fourth Test, on Tuesday expressed his disappointment, saying that England batsmen Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett came 90 seconds late to the crease on the third day of the Test.

"No, no, not at all (it wasn’t intentional). I sit in my spot until the umpires go out. And I saw the umpires go out; I walked out. I wasn’t aware we were 90 seconds late, but fair enough,” Crawley said during the press conference.

The third Test witnessed a lot of dramatic moments as tensions soured between England and Indian players. The most intense moment in the game came when England opener Zak Crawley repeatedly applied time-wasting tactics to ensure England faced one over in the final seven minutes on day three, prompting Indian captain Gill to confront him. Nonetheless, England later went on to win the game by 22 runs, claiming a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Talking about the ongoing fourth Test, England are trailing by 133 runs in reply to India's first innings total of 358. England ended day 2 (Thursday) at 225/2, with Zak Crawley (84) and Ben Duckett (94) playing crucial roles.
