Kemar Roach returns as West Indies name Test squad for New Zealand tour

West Indies have recalled veteran fast bowler Kemar Roach for their three-match Test series in New Zealand this December, strengthening their bowling attack. His inclusion adds valuable experience to the side that otherwise features several relatively new faces. Roach, who last featured in a Test in January in Multan during the tour of Pakistan, has 85 tests and 284 wickets under his belt.
West Indies, meanwhile, will continue to be without two of their brightest fast bowlers, Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, who remain sidelined through injuries. In their absence, West Indies have rewarded emerging talent Ojay Shields with a maiden Test call-up.
“New Zealand has traditionally been one of the toughest places for any touring side, which is why strong emphasis has been placed on targeted preparation," CWI’s director of cricket, Miles Bascombe, said.
"The recent high-performance camp here in Antigua was designed to replicate, as closely as possible, the conditions we expect to face, particularly the pace-friendly surfaces.”
West Indies squad: Roston Chase (c), Jomel Warrican (vc), Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Brandon King, Johann Layne, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Ojay Shields
