New Zealand suffer crushing blow ahead of 2nd Test against West Indies, Matt Henry, Mitchell Santner ruled out

New Zealand have been dealt a major setback ahead of the remainder of their three-match Test series against the West Indies, with three key players ruled out through injury. Experienced bowlers Matt Henry and Nathan Smith suffered injuries during the opening Test at Christchurch, which ended in a draw. Henry picked up a calf injury, while Smith sustained a side strain.

As a result, neither will take part in the final two Tests of the series. Their absence will drastically weaken New Zealand’s pace arsenal.

To add to New Zealand’s woes, all-rounder Mitchell Santner hasn’t recovered fully from his groin problem and will also miss the remaining Tests. New Zealand Cricket confirmed that the trio has been ruled out of the remainder of the Test series. NZC also announced that Kristian Clarke will join the squad ahead of the second Test, which will begin on December 10 in Wellington.
