India delivered a brutal performance to outclass South Africa by 101 runs in the first T20I, seizing a 1–0 lead in the five-match series on Tuesday in Cuttack. The match, which was largely a one-sided affair, saw India outplay South Africa in both the batting and bowling departments.

Asked to bat, India posted a competitive 175/6 in 20 overs, with Hardik Pandya launching a blistering assault. Following a disappointing outing from the top order, Pandya unleashed a counter-attack that swung momentum firmly in India’s favour. He slammed (59*) off just (28) balls, smashing six boundaries and four sixes. Tilak Varma (26) and Axar Patel (23) offered vital support, helping India reach a respectable total.

Chasing 176, South Africa started shakily and never recovered. Meanwhile, Indian bowlers maintained relentless pressure, leaving the visitors with no breathing space. Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel took two wickets each. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube took one wicket each as South Africa were bowled out for 74 in 12.3 overs.
