India opener Abhishek Sharma has expressed strong confidence in Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill, insisting the duo will emerge as match-winners for India in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Lately both players have struggled to put out runs; however, Abhishek believes that class and experience will prevail when it matters most. Suryakumar and Gill have endured a lean patch in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa. Across the first three matches of the five-match series, neither has managed to make meaningful contributions.

"I tell you one thing straight away that trust me, these two guys are going to win matches in the (T20) World Cup and the series before that as well," Abhishek said at the post-match press conference.

"I have been playing with them for so long, especially with Shubman, so I know where he can win the match and what the conditions are, irrespective of the team."

Abhishek dismissed any suggestion that form issues could haunt the pair heading into a global tournament that begins on February 7.

"I have a lot of faith in him from the beginning, and I hope everyone will see it very soon and everyone will have faith," he said.

In the third T20I on Sunday at Dharamshala, which India won by 7 wickets, Gill slammed 28, which was his highest score of the series. On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav managed 12 with the help of two boundaries.
