The fourth T20I between India and South Africa was abandoned without a ball being bowled after heavy fog blanketed the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday night, bringing proceedings to a premature halt. Match officials were forced into a wait-and-watch mode as dense fog settled over the ground before the scheduled start.

The toss was initially delayed due to poor visibility, with umpires conducting multiple inspections in the hope that conditions might improve. However, as the evening progressed, the fog only thickened, reducing the visibility.

Meanwhile, there were five inspections by the on-field officials; however, visibility remained unsafe for play. With no signs of respite, the decision was finally taken to call off the match during the fifth inspection. Talking about the series, India continue to lead the five-match series 2–1, having an upper edge heading into the final encounter on Friday in Ahmedabad.
