Sri Lanka name preliminary T20 World Cup squad
Sri Lanka Cricket has opted for continuity in leadership ahead of the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, confirming Dasun Shanaka as captain of the national side for the duration of the tournament. Sri Lanka announced a 25-member preliminary squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, as they ramp up preparations for the fast-approaching tournament.
The squad also includes big names such as Wanindu Hasaranga, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kamindu Mendis, Dushmantha Chameera and Maheesh Theekshana. Sri Lanka have been placed alongside Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Oman in the tournament, which begins on February 7.
