Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has never been one to shy away from honest self-assessment, and his latest admission shows both concern and determination. Admitting his prolonged lean patch, Suryakumar candidly stated that “batter Surya” has gone missing and must return stronger, especially with the T20 World Cup just around the corner.

Over the past few months, the right-hander has struggled to find his trademark rhythm and confidence. And the South Africa series further highlighted his woes, as he managed only 34 runs across four innings.

"I think it was a good challenging series; we did what we could. The only thing is we couldn't find Surya the batter; I think he's missing somewhere. But he'll come back strong. As a leader, I am really happy with the way things went," Surya said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

"Boys chipped in Whenever we were in trouble, someone was always raising their hand up, bailing the side out. So very happy with everything."

Yadav further said that the team wanted to play a certain brand of cricket, and they executed it really well. India won the fifth and final T20I against South Africa on Friday in Ahmedabad to win the series 3-1.

"Yeah, I mean the brand of cricket we wanted to play from the start of the tournament was the same. we did not do anything different; we wanted to express ourselves. The result is in front of us," he added.
