England suffer injury blow, captain Ben Stokes limps off the field

England’s nightmare Ashes campaign took another blow on day four as captain Ben Stokes was forced off the field with an adductor injury, compounding an already grim tour Down Under. The setback came midway through Australia’s relentless innings, when Stokes suddenly pulled up during his 28th over. Stokes was clearly uncomfortable, clutching his leg and signalling for assistance.
After a brief assessment, he left the field. The England and Wales Cricket Board later revealed that Stokes is being assessed for a right adductor muscle strain. Meanwhile, Stokes is expected to bat in the second innings for England.
Notably, injuries have become a recurring problem in Stokes’ career lately. He has spent the past few years managing a series of physical setbacks, including persistent knee problems.
