Joburg Super Kings have suffered a massive setback in the ongoing SA20 2026 season, with skipper Faf du Plessis being ruled out of the remainder of the tournament after suffering a right thumb ligament tear. Faf has been a prolific performer in the tournament, scoring 135 runs in five innings at an average of 27.00 and an impressive strike rate of 151.68. The latest blow also leaves JSK facing a leadership vacuum in the middle stage of the tournament.

"All our love with you, skipper. Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the remainder of the SA20 season after suffering a right thumb ligament tear requiring surgical repair. Our best wishes are with you," Joburg Super Kings said in a statement on X.

Currently, Joburg Super Kings, having played seven games, are placed third in the points table with three wins. They have lost two games, and their two matches have resulted in no outcome. Their next game is on Wednesday against Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
