Harbhajan Singh backs India to prevail over Pakistan and Usman Tariq

Former Indian spin great Harbhajan Singh has thrown his weight behind the Indian cricket team ahead of their much‑anticipated T20 World Cup 2026 clash against Pakistan in Colombo on Sunday, asserting that India has what it takes to come out on top in one of the tournament’s most talked‑about matches.
Both teams are currently enjoying strong campaigns, having won their last two matches each. However, the pressure surrounding this historic rivalry is at an all‑time high. Meanwhile, Harbhajan also urged India to show caution against a particular Pakistani threat. While optimistic, Harbhajan singled out Pakistani spinner Usman Tariq as a bowler India must respect, urging India’s batters to approach his bowling carefully.
"Pakistan have a spinner (Usman Tariq); he is a good spinner. We have to play him safely. He could play a major role in determining the outcome of the match. The Indian team is capable. It is a very good team. We hope they play the way they have always played, play without any pressure and unfurl the flag of victory," Harbhajan said while talking to the media.
Tariq’s unconventional style and wicket‑taking ability have been described as a potential X‑factor in Sri Lanka’s spin‑friendly conditions. However, India's batting line-up is stacked with power hitters in the form of Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav.
