Afghanistan in must-win situation against UAE

Afghanistan’s tournament at the T20I World Cup has reached a crossroads as they now stand on the brink of elimination. They are set to face United Arab Emirates in a Group D clash on Monday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. With South Africa almost assured of progressing, the qualification equation has narrowed sharply for everyone else.
Afghanistan must win this game, defeat Canada in their remaining fixture, and hope that New Zealand falter. For the UAE, the path is quite demanding. Their morale-boosting victory over Canada has kept them alive. If they can overcome Afghanistan and then somehow upset South Africa, the qualification race could be forced into a net run rate showdown with New Zealand should the teams finish level on points.
