Marizanne Kapp ruled out of ODIs against Pakistan

South Africa have been dealt a setback ahead of their upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, with experienced allrounder Marizanne Kapp ruled out due to illness. According to Cricket South Africa, Kapp will miss the three-match series, which gets underway on February 22. The 36-year-old experienced discomfort shortly after completing her spell during the third T20I against Pakistan in Benoni on Monday. As a precautionary measure, team management has opted to rest the seasoned campaigner to ensure a full recovery.

"Kapp experienced discomfort shortly after completing her spell during the first innings of the third T20 International in Benoni on Monday. Following further medical assessments, the Proteas Women medical team has opted to rest her as a precaution," Cricket South Africa stated in a statement. 

In her place, 18-year-old bowling all-rounder Fay Cowling has earned her maiden call-up to the senior ODI squad. Cowling has previously represented South Africa at Under-19 level and has been making continued progress in the domestic circuit with the Lions.
