Aiden Markram clouted an unbeaten 82-run knock as South Africa churned out an impressive performance to beat the West Indies by nine wickets in their Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday. The victory has helped South Africa keep their unbeaten run intact as they move closer to a semifinal berth.

West Indies, who were asked to bat, posted a competitive total of 176/8 in 20 overs, recovering from an early wobble. They were helped by veteran star Jason Holder and all-rounder Romario Shepherd, who played key roles in bringing momentum back into the innings after initial setbacks. Holder blasted 49 off 31 while Romario Shepherd remained unbeaten on 52 off 37. South Africa, in their chase, looked dominant from the start. They lost just one wicket as they reached 177/1 with 23 balls to spare. They were powered by a breathtaking innings from captain Aiden Markram, who hammered boundaries at a near-relentless pace, hitting seven fours and four sixes. Ryan Rickelton and Quinton de Kock made noteworthy contributions with 45* and 47, respectively.

With this win, South Africa maintain their unbeaten record in the Super Eight stage, consolidating their position at the top of Group 1. But, for West Indies, this defeat ends an unbeaten run in the tournament, though they remain in contention for the semi-finals spot.
