South Africa have suffered a setback ahead of their upcoming T20I tour of New Zealand, with all-rounder Eathan Bosch ruled out of the five-match series due to a hamstring injury. The injury has forced the young all-rounder to withdraw from the 15-man squad just days before the series begins.

Bosch was in line to make his T20I debut for South Africa during the tour, having played only one international match so far, an ODI appearance last year. In Bosch’s absence, South Africa have called up fellow all-rounder Wiaan Mulder as his replacement. Mulder brings more international experience, having already played 11 T20Is for South Africa.

His most recent T20I appearance came against Ireland in September 2024. Meanwhile, South Africa will be led by experienced spinner Keshav Maharaj in the T20I series. The T20I series between New Zealand and South Africa will begin on March 15 and run through March 25, with matches scheduled across five venues in New Zealand.

South Africa squad: Keshav Maharaj (c), Ottneil Baartman, Wiaan Mulder, Gerald Coetzee, Tony de Zorzi, Connor Esterhuizen, Dian Forrester, Jordan Hermann, Rubin Hermann, George Linde, Nqobani Mokoena, Andile Simelane, Lutho Sipamla, Prenelan Subrayen, and Jason Smith
