Teen sensation Fanny Utagushimaninde scripts history with record-breaking T20I century on debut

Rwanda’s teenage prodigy Fanny Utagushimaninde has created history, delivering one of the most extraordinary debut performances in Women’s T20 International history. At just 15 years and 223 days, the opener smashed an unbeaten 111 off 65 balls against Ghana in the Nigeria Invitational Women’s T20I Tournament, setting multiple records in a single innings.

Opening the batting, Utagushimaninde played a composed innings, smashing 17 boundaries to power Rwanda to a commanding total of 210/3 in 20 overs. The landmark moment came in the 18th over when she brought up her century, becoming the youngest player ever to score a hundred in Women’s T20Is. She surpassed the previous record held by Uganda’s Prosscovia Alako.

She also became the first-ever woman to score a T20I century on debut. This was the highest individual score on a Women's T20I debut. Later, defending a daunting target of 211, their bowlers restricted Ghana to 88/8, sealing a commanding 122-run victory in the tournament opener.
