South Africa reveal central contract for players, David Miller overlooked

Cricket South Africa has revealed the central contracts for both the men's and women's teams for the 2026–27 season. The new contracts, which come into effect from June 1, 2026, show CSA’s strategy of balancing experienced campaigners with emerging talent while also continuing the hybrid contract model introduced in recent years. CSA has retained a strong group of senior players while rewarding consistent performers and rising stars.
Rising stars like Kwena Maphaka and Senuran Muthusamy have earned their first contracts. The most notable exclusion from the list is David Miller, who previously held a hybrid contract. Building on the structure seen in the previous cycle, where 18 players received full contracts and select players were offered hybrid agreements, the 2026–27 list maintains that stability. The CSA has also confirmed a 15-player contracted squad for the Proteas Women.
"Our Road to 2027 and Beyond strategy also informed the final choice of players who possess the level of talent and attitude required in achieving our strong ambitions of winning all major ICC events going forward,” CSA said in a statement.
