IPL 2026: KKR look to end winless streak as they take on rejuvenated LSG

Kolkata Knight Riders are preparing to face Lucknow Super Giants in a high-voltage encounter on Thursday at Eden Gardens. Both sides are carrying contradictory narratives in their campaign, with KKR still trying to find their rhythm after an inconsistent start, while LSG are gradually getting down to business with a balanced and confident outfit.

Looking at KKR, their campaign so far has been far from convincing. Despite boasting a few reliable names, their early performances have exposed cracks, particularly in the bowling department. They have unable to contain batting assault from the opposition teams in their past games. They let a 220 total slip against Mumbai and then allowed SRH to pile up 226 at home, highlighting issues with execution. However, on a positive side, some of their batters have shown promise. Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been a reliable presence, playing meaningful knocks. Finn Allen has provided fireworks at the top with an eye-catching strike rate, though he has been unable to stay long at the crease. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane continues to look fluent during the powerplay but struggles to maintain tempo through the middle overs. And, there is huge responsibility on Rinku Singh, who has delivered consistently in the last games.

LSG, on the other hand, have depended heavily on their fast-bowling strength. Mohammad Shami has been outstanding, delivering breakthroughs and maintaining control at the death. Youngster Prince Yadav has also impressed with his attacking approach, while the support of Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Anrich Nortje makes their pace attack quite formidable. Their batting lineup has delivered in patches. Rishabh Pant has looked in excellent touch. Mitchell Marsh is a force at the top, while Markram has provided stability. Still, Nicholas Pooran is yet to hit the right notes, as he has not lived up to the promise so far. Nonetheless, LSG, coming off a comfortable win against SRH, will look to maintain the rhythm.
