"My body is a little powerful": Mukul Choudhary on his six-hitting ability

Mukul Choudhary was the hero of Lucknow Super Giants' incredibly spectacular victory over Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday at Eden Garden in a final-ball nail-biter. The young batter flipped the script, producing a stunning late assault to guide Lucknow Super Giants to a thrilling three-wicket victory, turning what looked like a certain defeat into one of the most remarkable wins of IPL 2026. He blasted 30 runs off the last two overs to seal an improbable victory and completed his half-century in 26 deliveries. Speaking after the match, Choudhary highlighted how practice played a major role in his skilful performance against KKR. In his innings, Mukul also pulled off a helicopter shot – a shot he was inspired to execute after seeing legendary MS Dhoni, whom he has always been a fan of.
"I have practised that shot since childhood. I always liked that, and the way Dhoni finished. He used to hit a six even off a yorker. If you even hit that kind of a delivery for six, the bowler thinks about doing something different," Choudhary said at the press conference.
Speaking on his big-hitting ability, Choudhary stated that he practises smashing 100-150 sixes every day.
"My body is a little powerful, and that has come to me naturally. I also practise hitting 100-150 sixes every day, so the bat speed develops if you keep doing it. I have been practicing a lot for the last five to six months, so it has come into my game."
Mukul Choudhary also spoke about the key piece of advice from Rishabh Pant that played a huge role in his batting.
“The main thing is calmness. Over the last one or two years, earlier I used to rush a bit, but in the past few months, I’ve worked on this in practice, that I want to bat as long as possible. If I take the game till the end, I believe I can win it for my team," Mukul said at the post-match press conference.
"Even in the last match, I played four to five balls, I didn’t get out, but I wasn’t timing it well. So I spoke to Rishabh bhai. He told me that I was overthinking, thinking I will do this, I will do that. He said don’t think so much. Just focus on your job, your process, what you’ve always done. If you overthink, you’ll feel pressure. Watch the ball. When you hit it, you hit it well. I believe in you, but you need to believe in yourself too," he added.
