BCCI comes down hard on DC pacer Kyle Jamieson for aggressive send-off to Sooryavanshi
Delhi Capitals pacer Kyle Jamieson has been pulled up by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his aggressive send-off to teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Jamieson has been handed a demerit point and issued a warning.
"Kyle Jamieson, Bowler, Delhi Capitals, has accumulated one Demerit Point and received a warning for breaching Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 43 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur," the statement from IPL stated.
"Jamieson was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match.”
"The incident occurred in the second over of the first innings, when, after dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Jamieson was found to be close to him in an aggressive manner, which could have provoked an aggressive reaction from the batter,".
Jamieson, meanwhile, admitted the breach and accepted the penalty handed down by match referee Rajeev Seth.
The incident took place during Rajasthan’s innings, with Jamieson sending down a pinpoint yorker to dismiss Sooryavanshi, who had just struck a boundary moments earlier. Sooryavanshi was beaten by pace as the ball deflected onto the stumps. But it wasn’t just the dismissal that grabbed headlines. Jamieson followed it up with an intense and animated send-off, clapping aggressively and staring down the young batter as he returned to the pavilion.
