PBKS and DC look to avoid slip-ups in crunch clash

Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are gearing up to face each other in the most crucial match at the HPCA Stadium on Monday. Notably, the race to the IPL 2026 playoffs is becoming tighter with every passing game, and this clash for both PBKS and DC carries massive implications because neither side can afford to suffer a defeat. Punjab Kings, who started this season with thumping victories, have totally lost the momentum in recent matches.
For a large part of the tournament, they played fearless cricket, winning six of their opening seven matches. Now, they have suddenly lost their rhythm, suffering three consecutive defeats. Although they still remain in third place, the teams below them are growing in confidence and can put PBKS' comfortable position under serious threat. As of now, for Punjab, they need both their batters and bowlers to step up to make a strong comeback in the tournament.
For Delhi Capitals, this season has been incredibly frustrating. They commenced their campaign with two impressive victories. However, the promise of those early performances has faded, putting DC in a must-win situation. Since their opening wins, Delhi have struggled to build any momentum, failing to win back-to-back matches. Currently, they find themselves in eighth position on the table, with no room for error. For DC, every remaining game has now become a knockout encounter, and to keep their playoff hopes alive, they must rise with best performances.
