ENG vs IND, 4th T20I: Dispirited India battle to stay alive as England look to seal series win

India are gearing up to meet England in the 4th T20I at Bristol on Thursday with the visitors looking to wrest control of the series. England have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match series, winning the second and third matches after the first match was abandoned due to rain. India have no longer any chance of winning the series, but wins in the remaining two matches would help them level the series. England, on the other hand, will look to maintain their dominance and hope to clinch a series win.

Meanwhile, for India, this tour has been a disaster, with the side enduring one of their toughest overseas outings in recent years. Their tour began on a disappointing note with a historic series defeat against Ireland – India's first-ever international loss to Ireland. Their struggles have continued in the England series as well, where their performance in the third T20I at Nottingham exposed their batting woes. The side was dismissed for one of their lowest totals in T20I history, suffering their heaviest defeat by runs in the T20Is. The biggest challenge for India has been their batting. The English conditions have consistently favoured the bowlers, and India's batting lineup has failed to adjust perfectly.

Early dismissals inside the Powerplay have been a major reason behind India's faltering show. They have a formidable batting attack. Still, India have struggled to produce the consistency required to challenge England. The new captain Shreyas Iyer has also been going through a difficult beginning. Under his leadership, India are yet to register a win. England, meanwhile, have looked like a well-drilled unit under captain Harry Brook. Their victories have been made possible due to clarity of roles, with all players performing their roles nicely. Players like Phil Salt, Jacob Bethell, Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue have been incredibly impressive.
