Shaheen Afridi granted NOC to participate in Lanka Premier League

Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, according to reports, has been granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). The left-arm pacer, who is set to represent Kandy Royals in the upcoming edition of the tournament, will be marking his maiden outing in the league.
The LPL is scheduled to begin on July 17 and will run until August 8. Afridi's inclusion is expected to boost Kandy Royals' bowling attack. The Royals will begin their campaign on July 18 with a match against Dambulla Sixers. Notably, Afridi was recently left out of Pakistan's Test squads for the upcoming series against the West Indies and England. His exclusion came amid a series of disappointing outings in the longest format.
He was also left out of Pakistan's playing XI for the second Test against Bangladesh in May. This will also be the second that Afridi will participate in an overseas league, having already played in the BBL 2025-26. There he represented Brisbane Heat in two matches before a knee injury ruled him out of the tournament.
