ENG vs IND, 3rd ODI: Eyes on Rohit and Kohli as India seek series win

England and India are set for a final meeting in the ongoing three-match ODI series as both teams are gearing for a crucial third and final ODI to be played on Sunday at Lord's. The series is currently levelled 1-1, making the final match a do-or-die battle for both sides. For England, the decider is an opportunity to complete a magnificent limited-overs campaign. They dominated India in the T20I leg with a marvellous 4-0 clean sweep that also helped them dethrone India at the top of the T20I rankings. India, on the other hand, having bounced back strongly throughout the tour, have a final chance to end the tour positively.
India have so far done fairly well, but the side has lacked a complete innings. Captain Shubman Gill has been outstanding. His unbeaten 80 in the opening ODI anchored India's successful chase before cramps limited his batting late in the innings. However, the most talked about point remains the form of veteran stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Though Kohli slammed a classy half-century in Cardiff, Rohit, meanwhile, is still searching for a big knock. Given his excellent record against England, it's been rather surprising to see Rohit fail on both occasions.
Moreover, India have suffered a setback with all-rounder Washington Sundar unavailable due to injury. His absence could hand Kuldeep Yadav an opportunity to return to the playing XI. Axar Patel will once again be one of India's key players after producing a memorable all-round performance in the opening match. His four-wicket spell and an unbeaten fifty played a key role in India's win in the first ODI. The pace attack will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, who will be supported by Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar. As for England, they have so far banked on Joe Root's class but now the likes of Jos Buttler, Phil Salt and Harry Brook will be expected to step up and fire runs.
