Afghanistan announce ODI squad for Ireland ODIs
Afghanistan have revealed their 15-player squad for the upcoming five-match ODI series against Ireland, with captain Rahmat Shah set to begin his captaincy tenure. The experienced batter will lead the side in an ODI series for the first time since being handed the captaincy in both the ODI and Test formats a few days ago.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been named vice-captain. The squad also sees the return of fast bowlers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Yamin Ahmadzai. However, Afghanistan will be without their premier spin bowler, Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The off-spinner has been ruled out of the series as he continues to recover from an injury.
The five-match ODI series will begin on August 5 in Bready, followed by the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th ODIs on August 7, 10, 12 and 15, respectively.
