Kate Cross to retire from all forms of cricket at the end of summer

Former England pacer Kate Cross has announced that she will retire from professional cricket at the end of English summer, bringing an end to a glittering chapter in her career. Cross, who made her England debut in October 2013, was one of England’s most dependable fast bowlers. In her 102 international appearances spanning Tests, ODIs and T20Is, she took 140 wickets - 25 in Tests, 101 in ODIs and 14 in T20s.
“This summer is going to be my last playing professional cricket,” Cross wrote in an Instagram post.
“It's incredibly hard to imagine ever saying goodbye to playing the sport that has been such a huge part of my life and shaped me into the person I am today. But, the final chapter is in sight.”
“I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to play the game I love professionally and get to do it at the highest level,” she wrote. “But I'm even more fortunate to have met the people I have along the way. I have memories that will last a lifetime which I'll forever be thankful for.”
One of the most notable performances of Cross's international career came in 2024 during England’s ODI series against Ireland, where she, serving as the stand-in captain in the absence of Heather Knight, churned out a sensational spell in Belfast, claiming 6 wickets for just 30 runs. It was the best bowling performance of her ODI career.
