Brydon Carse withdrawn from England squad amid ECB’s investigation into nightclub incident

England have withdrawn fast bowler Brydon Carse from their squad for the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s after an incident outside a nightclub in Derby came under investigation by the Cricket Regulator.
The incident, as per reports, took place on Saturday night, when Durham’s players went out to celebrate their County Championship victory over Derbyshire. Footage later showed Carse being escorted by police while handcuffed. Following Carse’s withdrawal, England have called up young seamer Sonny Baker as his replacement. Baker, who earned his first Test cap against New Zealand at The Kia Oval in June, has once again given another opportunity.
“Following a referral from the ECB, the Cricket Regulator have confirmed that they will investigate events on Saturday night in Derby,” ECB said in a statement.
“Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the Second Men’s Rothesay Test Match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained.”
The incident comes at a notable time for England because earlier this month, England captain Joe Root removed the midnight curfew that had been brought in after a series of of alcohol-related incidents during England’s winter tours of New Zealand and Australia.
