Pakistan will have their star batter back in the side when they take on England in the second Test at Lord's, with captain Babar Azam declaring himself fit enough to return after recovering from a hand injury.

Babar provided an update ahead of the second Test, starting on Thursday, saying he was around 90% fit and very comfortable. His return is hugely crucial as Pakistan look to bounce back after suffering a devastating defeat in the first Test.

“Yesterday, I had a couple of practice sessions. I’m 90% fit for tomorrow and the rest of the series," Babar said at the press conference.

Babar has been gradually increasing his workload in the nets, ramping up his preparations in the buildup to the second Test. Fast-bowling coach Umar Gul had also said that Babar had faced pace during Tuesday's practice session, although much of his preparation has otherwise involved throwdowns. Meanwhile, Babar asserted that it is an honour to lead the side, and he will do his best at Lord’s.

"When you lead the Pakistan side on this ground, it's an honour. I do my best on the field as captain, and when I'm batting, I just play my game,” he said.
