It is the same story for Pakistan, who suffered another batting collapse on day one of the third and final Test against England on Wednesday. They completely failed to absorb pressure and build an innings after being asked to bat. Surprisingly, the pitch offered suitable conditions for batting, but still Pakistan struggled, and they were bowled out for 33, losing all of their ten wickets in 33.5 overs. 

England pacers ripped through Pakistan, with Josh Tongue claiming 4-42, Ollie Robinson 3-15 and Jofra Archer 3-25. Speaking at the end of the day, Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel expressed his frustration accepting the fact that his side had been unable to pull through difficult passages of the game. 

"It's disappointing; we're making the same mistake over and over again as a batting unit. We're getting out in bunches, and there were lots of soft dismissals today. From our side, we are making a lot of efforts. It’s not like that we are not making efforts. But it is just that the same mistakes are being repeated,” Shakeel said at the press conference. 

Pakistan's top order also remained unable to negotiate England bowlers, with none of the first five batters managing to reach double figures. Shakeel felt that Pakistan could have piled up more runs after navigating through difficult periods because the pitch improved later on. 

"The pitch was expected to get better as the match progressed, but early on there was juice in it. The toss isn't in our hands, but we lost it and went to bat first, and the overcast conditions favoured England there. And I think that was the time to build a partnership because the pitch improved later on for batting. Even with the new ball, England's openers struggled," he said.

As of now, England are leading by 23 runs after finishing day one with 156/4. On the other hand, Pakistan would hope to bowl England out as early possible on day two to make their way back into the match.
